History

San Juan Diego Middle School was founded by a group of laypeople, led by educator Michael Frontier. The group sought partnership with the Christian Brothers de Lasalle and the Racine Dominicans to create a Catholic school that would provide a quality education to under-served children of the Racine community.

San Juan Diego Middle School opened its doors in 2003 as a nonprofit, Catholic school that exists nearly completely on contributions from funding organizations, corporations and individual donors.

San Juan Diego Middle School is a Catholic and Lasallian school, based on the model of San Miguel schools around the country, which endeavor to offer cutting-edge education to the most vulnerable children in their communities. The school is a member of the Nativity-Miguel Network of Schools and is affiliated with the Christian Brothers, whose founder St. John Baptist de Lasalle was committed to educating the economically poor of his time.
